Leaking high-pressure flex lines in motor vehicles with sometimes P.3 of the registration certificate Part I – petrol/liquid gas – fuelled vehicles.

We would like to draw your attention to the fact that there is an increasing number of vehicle fires involving LPG-fuelled vehicles in Germany and the EU. One reason for this could be that when driving on LPG, as well as when stationary with the engine idling, there can be a considerable leakage of LPG from the high-pressure line which supplies the vaporiser in the engine compartment with liquid LPG from the tank. As this leakage usually remains undetected by the driver of the vehicle, this LPG can ignite on the exhaust and other hot components, also in the engine compartment.
There is an absolute danger of death for the vehicle occupants and other persons involved!
The BFG e.V. will now present the facts and figures in the form of an appendix. In the opinion of the BFG e.V., it is not possible to ascertain in which vehicles in Europe and Germany these flex lines were put into circulation and installed by the manufacturers. However, it would have to be a few million.
Therefore, in our opinion, it is important that the owners of such vehicles are made aware of the imminent danger within the framework of product liability and the Product Safety Act (ProdSG) in Europe and Germany. The BFG e.V. will inform the media about the events in advance.
We will also inform the investigating authorities about the cause of the fire of a vehicle in Dormagen on 07.11.2019, in which 3 people were seriously injured.
